Snow Day in Atlanta

What a wonderful day to stay home!  I hate driving in stressful conditions. Thankfully, our school superintendent thought today was a day for our schools not to open. Resting another day has helped in recovering from my cold/virus/whatever. I made myself vacuum the house, but then did take a small nap mid-day. I worked on Michael's T-shirt quilt most of the afternoon. Happily, I marked-off several steps. All the t-shirts are backed, sashed, and ironed. They're ready to place on the background. The background with borders was pieced as well as the quilt backing. The next step is to arrange the t-shirts on the background. I'll try to do that later this week. The tables in my media center at school are perfect for this job. I'll wait until one day after school later in the week. Tomorrow, will be a bit crazy after an unscheduled day off. It's also our day for after school meetings/staff development. What a relief to have these three projects with a May deadline well on their way. Two of them are at the long-arm quilters waiting in line to be quilted. Michael's graduation quilt is taking shape. It's at least past the part that I don't like doing. I also had the opportunity to sew  the first block in the $5.00 BOM that I started at our new quilt shop, Patchwork Cottage.

Finally, I dug out two UFO's that I'd love to finish. I'm debating which one to work on next. That's my reward for working on these three demanding projects. I can now work a bit on a project of my choice for a bit of time. It's all a "mind-game," but it seems to work for me :)

Acceptance Status: Admit

Who ever thought that the word, Admit, would bring such joy. On Thursday, our son received word that he was accepted or admited to the university that he would like to attend. What a relief! This is actually his second choice, but probably the best choice for him. We can know begin the next stage, which is sending money to reserve his spot and dorm room. Next Saturday, we will drive to the university in Middle Georgia (about 90 miles from our home) for a special day for first time Freshmen. It should be helpful. We will be very near Sweet Home Quilt Shop on our drive home. Maybe, I can bribe Michael into making a detour:)

Snowing in Atlanta

This is not to be believed. We actually have snow in Atlanta. It's been a gentle dusitng of flakes all day long. Because we rarely have snow, it is exciting and mystical. The
birds in our back yard weren't  too impressed. We were glad that there was plenty of bird seed in the feeders.

Eating the Elephant

Happy Sunday!  I'm feeling a bit better today. Still sneezing and congested, but the nasty sore throat is gone. After finishing the laundry,

I worked a bit on Michael's T-shirt quilt. I finished another step (like eating that elephant, one bite at a time). This is the project that I worked on at our Thimbles Club meeting last Saturday. The black sashing strips around the T-shirts are finished. I'm now ironing the strips and spraying them with 505 basting spray.

While sewing yesterday and today, I listened to the end of the book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on  my Ipod. The audio version is superb. There were 5 different folks doing voices including the actress Juliet Mills. Now that I've finished listening to it, I'm at a bit of a loss at what I should listen to next. Any suggestions?
