Cutting Up ... Fabric

I've taken the plunge. I've started cutting the fabric for my Eventide Sew Along quilt. (no new photos at this point)

I was a bit hesitant after reading about Nicole's problems with her first choice of colors. I was even going to abandon this project and use the fabric for another project EXCEPT for the encouraging comments on my last post about my fabric choices (I do so appreciate your comments!) This afternooon I took my container with all my French General fabrics - Rouenneries, Rural Jardin, Lumiere de Noel and Maison de Garance - and sorted the fabrics by value - light, medium and dark. I didn't focus as closely on the colors so much as using the fabric that read strongly in each of the three values. Just making a decision to BEGIN has actually helped. I now feel motivated to work on my project.

Question for those of you working on Eventide? Did you cut the quarter square triangles the size printed on the pattern or did you cut them larger to resize the blocks?

Visit Thelmas' blog Cupcakes 'n Daisies to read about the updates and links to the other quilters participating in the Eventide  sew along. It's inspiring to see the many different versions of Carrie Nelson's Eventide.

Quilting Magazines

I love magazines. I've always loved books and magazines. I remember my cousin Peg telling me when we were in elementary school that not everyone was into books and magazines like I was. It was a real relevation. A shock really! It was just what I did. I didn't realize that other people didn't escape into the printed pages like I did.

I love getting magazines in the mail. I have at least three quilting magazine subscriptions. Today, I received two different magazines in the mail. I quickly skimmed them, but will take them with me to Louisiana to savor.

I love this quilt on the cover of American Patchwork & Quilting. It's a Miss Rosie Quilt Pattern. There's also a story on Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs. Can't wait to read that!
