Giveaway!!!!!!

I have a thing for paper products - notecards, notepads and writing paper.  I'd love to have packs of all  4 of these designs. My friend Kristie purchased some to put in frames to decorate her sewing room. Great idea! I may steal that idea:)

Quilts from Thimbles in March

Better late than never is my new motto! At our Thimbles meeting in March, I took lots of photos of the quilts for Show and Tell. Pat, our beloved leader, was out-of-town with another commitment. I'll try to give the name of each quilter, but I'm not remembering all of them. Fellow Thimbles, please leave a comment if you remember who made the quilts that I forgot or credited to the wrong person:) The stunning quilt above and below were delivered to Sandra that day, freshly quilted.

Sarah (no blog) designed these blocks and  used selvages she collected from her other quilt projects.

Jane with her just quilted Cupcake Quilt. She used Minkee for her backing. I convinced her to give me the trimming of the green Minkee. It has already been gifted as a pet bed.

I'm totally blanking on this one. Love the fabric and design. I recognize Gretch holding the quilt, but can't remember if it is her quilt or if she was helping someone else.

Sarah, no blog, drew the string blocks after seeing a similar design on cheater cloth. She sewed her quilt with pieced string blocks. The basket quilt is Kitty's Baskets from Pat's book Spotlight on Neutral, but with colorful batiks!

April Thimbles

Silver Thimble Club sewing! This past Friday and Saturday our club (70 plus quilters at one time or another) gathered to sew, talk, laugh and share. This time spent with other quilters, now dear friends, is a joy and a blessing. I borrowed the above photo from Karmen's blog A Quilter Awakens. She has some wonderful photos from the Friday evening group. Pat Wys, our teacher, mentor, "Head Thimble" nurtures and grows us as quilters and friends. Pat is holding her SIL Trisha's new quilt.

April Silver Thimble Night

This past Friday and Saturday was the third Friday and Saturday of the month. That means it was Silver Thimble Club of Grayson time. I usually sew with the Saturday group, but had another activity on Saturday so I sewed with the Friday evening group.  I drove to the church in Grayson right after school on Friday. Here is the backseat of my car packed and ready to "rock and  sew" Friday evening. Kristie and  Brenda met me on Friday evening. We swapped books we needed for our library jobs, talked lots of school shop-talk, sewed and laughed.

Several of my Saturday quilting buddies stopped by on Friday evening to visit with the group.Cindi had "goodies" she had ordered from online shops. The new Jo Morton fabric was gorgeous, but we all were lusting over the tote bag with "Minick & Simpson" printed on it. Cindi ordered a Bar Harbor kit  from their website. The tote bag came with her order.  Way to go, Cindi! Very tempting!

Teresa, who left the business of driving a school bus this year, is making a quilt from Bonnie Hunter's website I don't remember the name of this pattern. Perhaps, Teresa will leave the name of the pattern in the comments of this posts. What a great use of fabric! Teresa, you can "gift" this quilt to me if you decide that you don't like it:)

Sandra made this tote bag using a charm pack from Moda's Bar Harbor line (Minick & Simpson) It's gorgeous. I have a Bar Harbor charm pack that I purchased to add to a scrap quilt that I am cutting from my stash. I may rethink that idea and make this tote. It is from a pattern by Penny Sturges from QuiltsIllustrated.com. It's called the Chubby Charm Bag Pattern.

Sarah, showed her completed top using all civil war fabrics. I don't know if I even heard what pattern she used. If someone knows, please leave a comment. Sarah's quilt is absolutely stunning.

Many of us have learned the hard way that projects with straight sewing, not a lot of concentration are best for our sewing sessions. Let's just say "We do talk some." Brenda learned that even with straight seam sewing, mistakes can be made.

It was wonderful to see Elizabeth who has been recovering from knee surgery the past couple of months. These two quilts were projects that she has completed. One is a BOM. The other is a "vintage" Sisters Club project that she completed. Many of belonged to Pinheads, then Sisters before Pat began her Silver Thimble Club group.

I  hated to miss my Saturday group, but sure did have a grand time with the Friday group.

National Quilting Day

Happy Quilting to all! Today, March 20th is National Quilting Day. It was a fabulous day with lots of quilting fun. I actually began celebrating last night with the Friday Night Thimbles group. Last month, I had to miss our quilting day because of our county Readers Rally competition. This month, I sewed with my quilting buddies Friday after work and most of the day today. Brenda and Kristie sewed on Friday evening, too. Last weekend, I cut out a new project, Scrappy Nines by Pat Wys of Silver Thimble Quilt Company. I used tone-on-tone black for the red in the pattern and white with black for the shirtings.

I sewed strips for the nine-patches last night and today. Of course, there was lots of chatting and laughing, not so much serious sewing. Show and Tell was wonderful.

There were lots of fantastic quilt tops. This top was pieced by a new quilter. This is her second quilt. It's a Miss Rosie's Quilt Pattern called Grandma's Scrapbag. Her choice of color for this top is super.

Mary Agnes (no blog) pieced this top using '30's fabrics. It's from a magazine, but she couldn't remember which one. I'm hoping she e-mails me the title, month and year. I have a bit of 1930's fabric:)

Sarah (no blog) created these awesome P.J. bottoms. They're perfect for Spring.

Karin, who blogs at Life in the Slow Lane shared this wonderful quilt using Moda's Glace fabric. The pattern is from Fig Tree Quilts (I think)

After our sewing session, Kristie and I headed to Sweet Home Quilt Shop in Conyers. This weekend is the Atlanta Quilt Shop Hop. Sweet Home is one of our favorite, if not favorite shop. The shops have new samples, new fabric, and decorate with a theme. Sweet Home's theme was As American as Apple Pie. Yum! Each shop gives away a pattern for a quilt block. Quilters have to visit all 11 shops to get all the patterns. This is Sweet Home's Shop Hop Quilt.

This masterpiece was done by Debbie Frey. She is the class sample for an upcoming class she will be teaching at Sweet Home.

This quilt is from the book 40 Fabulous Quilts. I am cutting fabric to make this top. I am using red, blue and tan scraps from other projects.
